Also known as "Atomic Boing Boing," "Boingy Boingy," etc

Every once in a while there comes a trick that everyone loves to do. The trick starts with a split bottom mount and ends up bouncing the yo-yo back and forth between strings.

Step 1

Start with a Split Bottom Mount.

Step 2 - Chain Reaction

The next 6 steps form a move called a "Chain Reaction." This move is shown at Ken's World as well. It would probably be easier to learn from there, so go there now if you don't know it. I will only describe it briefly here. First, You are going to move your left hand behind your right as indicated by the blue arrow. As you do this, the yo-yo will be flipped in the direction of the orange arrow.

Step 3 - Chain Reaction

As you are moving your left hand behind your right hand, from Step 2, the yo-yo will eventually jump onto the red string. Continue moving your left hand backwards and down.

Step 4 - Chain Reaction

Now you should be in something similar to this position. Do an underpass with the left hand as indicated by the blue arrow.

Step 5 - Chain Reaction

You are still doing the underpass... continue moving until your hand reaches the blue X, then stop.

Step 6 - Chain Reaction

You should be in the position to the right. Push your left hand against the strings that are hanging from the right hand to the yo-yo and proceed to Step 7.

Step 7 - Chain Reaction

Now, do a somersault by moving your hand in the direction of the blue arrows until you reach the blue X. The yo-yo will continue to travel until it reaches the orange X because of the momentum from the push.

Step 8

Now, move your right hand in the direction of the blue arrow. Stop at the Blue X. Do this fairly quickly since you need to give the yo-yo some forward momentum.

Step 9

You should be in this position. The yo-yo will want to continue forward due to the momentum from Step 8. In order to let that happen (you want this to happen by the way), you must give your yo-yo / string formation some slack. Do this by moving your right hand down just a little bit.

Step 10

You will [very briefly] find yourself in this position. Now you want to "pull the strings" so that the yo-yo bounces back toward you. Do this by un-slacking the slack you gave the yo-yo strings in Step 9. When you pull up with your right hand, the yo-yo will go in the direction of the orange arrow.

Step 11

If the tug (un-slacking) in Step 10 was done swift enough, the yo-yo will want to continue in the direction of the orange arrow. However, in order to do this, you must give the yo-yo strings some slack. Do this by lowering your right hand slightly. This is what you did in Step 9; except now the yo-yo is going in the other direction.

Step 12

Like Step 10, you now wish to bounce the yo-yo back to its initial position. You must tighten the strings by pulling your right hand up, in the direction of the blue arrow. The yo-yo will then be pushed in the direction of the orange arrow. Now you proceed back to  Step 9. Repeat Steps 9 through 12 as many times as you like. After you are finished with the bouncing, dismount however you like.

Note, Steps 9 through 12 are done very rapidly.

One common mistake when performing this trick is the up and down motion of the right hand. It ONLY moves up and down (Steps 9 through 12). Do not try to "rock" the yo-yo forward and backwards.
