Triangulation
I call trick is called Triangulation because, well, there always seems to be a triangle formation due to how you hold yours strings.
This trick has been illustrated as if you were performing it in a mirror.
Step 1
The L and R indicate which hands you
should move, not which hand is shown moving in the picture.
Throw a 1-and-a-half mount as shown in the picture to the left. Next, you are going to do something similar to the trick Buddha's Revenge and flip the whole formation. Your hands are basically switching places when you do this. This is indicated by the blue arrows; follow them. |
Step 2
You will now be in this position. It is time to do an
underpass with the left hand. To do this, move your left hand in the
direction of the blue arrows.
Note the right hand is sideways. Your hand will probably be the same way, if it's not then don't worry about it. It's not important |
Step 3
Continue completing the underpass by continuing to follow the blue arrows with your left hand. Steps 2 and Step 3 should be done continuous with out any stops. Continue to Step 4 after following the arrows. |
Step 4
You should be in the position to the left. Lots of things are going to happen now, but basically you are going to do a transition roll into a double or nothing. First however, the green arrow indicates that your hand (during the next few steps) will end up being non-sideways. The blue arrows indicate the path you are going to follow with your left hand. When following this path, the pointer finger of the right hand will press against the 2 vertical hanging strings. The red string will play an important role in a minute. Proceed to Step 5 by following the direction of the blue arrows with your left hand. |
Step 5
Note ignore the blue string. It should be
black. This picture is being used from the Trapeze to Double or Nothing.
After pressing against the strings from Step 4, the yo-yo will begin to rotate in the direction of the orange arrows. You will also probably want to level your hands out (as indicated by the blue arrow). |
Step 6
You will be in the position to the right for a split second before the yo-yo falls onto the green string. The green string is the string that is farthest from your body. |
Step 6
You are now in a Double or Nothing hold. It is now time to perform an "dunk" move. To start this, move your right hand up as indicated by the blue arrow. |
Step 7
You will be in the hold shown to the right. You want to swiftly move your right hand in the direction of the blue arrows. You will end up pressing against the strings between the yo-yo and your left hand pointer finger. As a result, this will "pop" the yo-yo in the direction of the orange arrows. |
Step 8
The yo-yo will continue to rotate over the right hand. It will eventually land on the pair of red strings shown in the picture to the left. It will not land on the black string behind the red strings. (Don't worry, that black string is naturally far enough behind the red pair of string segments.) You probably will want to level your hands out now. This is indicated by the blue arrow of the right hand. |
Step 9
The yo-yo will now fall onto the pair of red strings (but not the back one coming from your yo-finger!). |
Step 10
Wow, lots of string segments! Three between
the right hand and the yo-yo, two between the left hand and the yo-yo and
to segments above all that mess.
Time for a funky move. Start this by moving your right hand up and to the left - as indicated by the blue arrow. |
Step 11
As you continue moving your hand to the left (as indicated by the blue arrow), the yo-yo will eventually hop onto the red string (and only the red string). |
Step 12
Now it is time to get rid of most of this big mess. To start cleaning this up, move your right hand down and to the right to horizontally line it up with the left hand. As this happens the yo-yo will begin to rotate in the direction of the orange arrows. |
Step 13
The yo-yo will continue to travel (assuming your movement of the right hand in Step 12 was strong enough) completely around your right hand. This is indicated by the orange arrows. If the yo-yo drops from the position in the picture to the right, you will end up in a big mess. Just make sure the yo-yo goes around the right hand. This is natural, but important. |
Step 14
If the yo-yo successfully traveled the predicted path of Step 13, then you should end up in a double or nothing (it'll probably be a lot uglier than the picture to the left though). Now it is time to do an underpass with the red strings. To do this, move your right hand in the direction of the blue arrows. |
Step 15
Continue the underpass by following the blue arrows. |
Step 16
Your hands will be crossed at this point, so now it is time to uncross them. To do this, make your right hand go in the direction of the blue arrows. The right pointer finger will press against the two red strings... |
Step 17
...And you will be in this ugly position. Now it is time to do another transition roll into a triple or nothing. This move is really hard to land perfectly because, odds are if you landed all the previous moves, your strings are fairly bunched together. Anyway, start the roll by moving your left hand against the pair of red strings (shown by the blue arrows). This will start the yo-yo in the direction of the orange arrows |
Step 18
The yo-yo will continue to go in the direction of the orange arrows. Horizontally align your hands (blue arrow). |
Step 19
Now it is time to land the Triple or Nothing. You want the yo-yo to land on ONLY the red string. Of course, this is insanely hard to do, but it is possible. Don't worry too much if it lands on multiple strings - the worst thing that could happen is your dismount for the trick gets messed up. |
Step 20
To dismount, drop all the strings off of your right pointer finger. |
Step 21
Now just twirl the yo-yo counter-clockwise three times to unwind it from your left hand pointer finger. |
Step 22
After the last unwind from step 21, let the yo-yo string flip off of your left hand finger. |
Step 23
Now just give the yo-yo a tug and it should come back to
your hand.
Congratulations! You have completed one of the most complex trapeze tricks! Wasn't too bad was it? :) |
The most trouble on the trick comes from Steps 13 through 19. Steps 13 through 16 will often snag your yo-yo if you haven't been smooth, and Step 19 is just plain difficult.
